Abstract

ভাষা একটি মাধ্যম, যার সাহায্যে মানুষ নিজেকে প্রকাশ করে। রং-তুলি অপর একটি মাধ্যম, যার সাহায্যে একজন চিত্রশিল্পী নিজেকে প্রকাশ করেন। একজন নৃত্যশিল্পী মুদ্রার সাহায্যে অনুরূপভাবে নিজেকে প্রকাশ করে থাকেন। ভাষার ব্যাপকতা বিশ্বময়। তবে বিশ্ববাসী এক ভাষায় কথা বলে না; এক জাতির এক বা একাধিক ভাষা আছে, আবার এক ভাষার এক বা একাধিক জাতি আছে। ভাষার প্রয়োগ বিভিন্নমুখী হয়; দৈনন্দিন জীবনে কাজের ভাষা, আলাপ- বিলাপের ভাষা, বাদ-প্রতিবাদের ভাষা, বক্তৃতার ভাষা, অফিস- আদালতের ভাষা, শিল্প-সাহিত্যের ভাষার রূপ, রীতি, রস ও স্বাদ একরূপ হয় না, ভিন্ন ভিন্ন প্রকার হয়ে থাকে।

Author Biography

ওয়াকিল আহমদ, University of Dhaka

Professor Wakil Ahmed (born 05 April 1941) is a Bengali language writer, academic and scholar who has been working as Professor of Bangla Language and Literature at the University of Long Distance. He is renowned for literary research and criticism.

Ahmed was born in Azadnagar, Shutti thana of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. His father's name was Reazuddin Biswas and mother's name Habiba Begum. Wakil Ahmed passed matriculation examination from Nimitita Goursandur Dwarkanath High School in Murshidabad in 1956. In the Department of Science, he passed Intermediate examination from Jangipur College in Murshidabad in 1958. He got his graduation degree from Central Calcutta College in 1960 in Bangla. He passed MA in Bangla from Calcutta University in 1962. Finally he obtained PhD in 1972 from Dhaka University. His Ph.D. Thesis title: Name of the folk literature of folk literature of Bengal. In 1980, he received D, Lit from Calcutta University. The subject of his research at this time was the section of the thoughts and thoughts of the Bengali Muslim in the nineteenth century. Ahmed has always taught Bangla Department of Dhaka University.

Ahmed has always taught Bangla Department of Dhaka University. He started researching and writing and published from the beginning of his career. From 1990 to 1994, he was the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University.

Ahmed was appointed as the Vice-chancellor of Bangladesh National University from 21 July 2005 to 26 December 2007. In December 2007, he was removed from the office. From 1996 to 1997 he was the President of Bangladesh Asiatic Society and from 2002 to 2006, he was the President of Bangla Academy.

Ahmed was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh for his research contribution.
